If you are looking to purchase a Fitbit Flex, I have several things to share not only about the product but also about the company.
First, the Fitbit Flex itself. Overall, I love the product. I'd like to say that I'm busy and don't have time to do the typical things that go with the normal pedometers like take them on and off and hook them up to my computer to upload the steps, BUT in reality...I'm lazy!! It's like with jewelry, if I take it off...I typically forget to put it back on! I love that it's waterproof and I can leave it on all the time. My employer is fabulous and gives us incentive points for our steps, the bluetooth capability even automatically uploads the steps for me. I don't even have to think about it. If I want to know how I'm doing, I can look at the app on my phone or the website at any time. You can customize your goals which I really like, because I'm no marathon runner. The sleep function is an interesting function, but I found after a couple of months I stopped messing with it. I do like the vibrating sleep alarm especially on the nights my husband is off and I have to work...I still have my loud alarm going off, but maybe only five times instead of 10. :)
There are a few cons. The biggest of them all are that because of the wrist placement, steps taken while pushing a grocery cart or stroller do not count. WOW MOMMAS out there! If you are like me with a 2 and 4 year old, that's a lot of steps!! If you bring this up to the company, they recommend taking the Fitbit Flex out of the wrist band and putting it in your pocket for these situations. Well, as I've already mentioned...I'm lazy...so that's not going to happen. Even if I did...it would end up in the washing machine never to be seen again! So, I tend to try to push the cart or stroller one handed as much as possible to try to salvage a few steps here or there! The other con is probably more my issue than the products and I've already mentioned it, if I take it off I forget to put it back on. So when it's time to charge it for 3-4 hours (I do it at night), it sometimes take a day or two for me to remember to put it back on.
Now about FitBit the company. People that know me, know I'm pretty hard on companies. I'm the first person to email or call and give feedback. This company is FABULOUS!!! After about 6 months, I went to pick up my oldest daughter at her grandmother's in the middle of the night because she was sick. I guess in carrying her around, I knocked off my Fitbit Flex somewhere. (I'd like to add, this had NEVER happened in 6 months.) I waited for a few months hoping it would turn up before I cave and invested in another one or even downgraded to the FitBit Zip to save money. I posted a question on our companies social media site about what people thought of the FitBit Zip and what do I find out...that if I call FitBit and let them know I lost my FitBit Flex, they will send me another one. NO WAY...this is a $100 pedometer. I sent them an email that day, they asked for a receipt of my purchase and mailing information, and that day they said they'd have a new one shipped out to me within 3-5 days! WOW!! Now that is Customer Service!
Overall, I recommend the FitBit Flex and I highly recommend anything from the FitBit company!
My wrist band started to come apart and I called them. A new one in the mail in a couple of days. They really do want you to use these and be happy. I did find out that I made it come apart by putting the 'brain' into the band incorrectly...
